Original story:
The Marion Police Department is investigating an incident where a man suffered blunt force trauma to the back of his head on Saturday.
Police were first called to the residence on 420 W. 29th St. at around 3 p.m. to conduct a welfare check.
At the house was 40-year-old Rochelle Evans and 38-year-old Odale Cobb. The two stated they had been in an argument, but claimed they didn’t need police assistance.
Officers noticed blood on the floor, at which time Evans advised that Cobb had fallen, according to Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey.
Both individuals were intoxicated and not cooperative with officers.
Around 9:30 p.m. Cobb called 911 saying that he needed medical assistance.
At the scene, Cobb was conscious, but lying on the floor and bleeding. Officers stated he suffered trauma to the back of his head and applied medical aid in order to stabilize the uncontrollable bleeding wound.
Cobb was transported to Marion General via ambulance and later transported to a hospital in Fort Wayne.
It was determined by medical personnel that Cobb sustained a blunt force laceration to the black of his head.
Cobb is reportedly in stable, but critical condition as of the last police report.
Police obtained and served a search warrant on the residence in an attempt to locate possible evidence.
Evans was questioned by detectives and stated, “that when she arrived at Cobb’s house she found him lying on the floor.”
Evans and Cobb were very intoxicated which made it hard for police to obtain factual information.
This case is still active.
