UPDATE: Marion man’s death ruled accidental after autopsy

The death of 38-year-old Odale Cobb has been ruled accidental following an autopsy, according to Coroner Stephen Dorsey.
Cobb was pronounced dead Monday morning at around 5 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Dorsey confirmed Cobbs’ death was due to a “laceration of the scalp” after he became intoxicated and fell, striking the back of his head against an object at a home.
Police originally responded to 420 W. 29th St. Saturday afternoon to conduct a welfare check, where police located Cobb and 40-year-old Rochelle Evans. The two stated they were arguing, but said they didn’t need any assistance.
Marion police officers noticed blood on the floor of the home, and Evans told police Cobb had fallen. Dorsey says the pair was not cooperating with the police.
Emergency personnel were later sent to the home six hours later after Cobb called 911. He was found conscious, but lying on the floor and bleeding before being rushed to the hospital.
