24-year-old IMPD officer killed while responding to call

A young Indianapolis police officer lost her life Thursday while responding to a call.
Officer Breann Leath, 24, arrived at an apartment on the east side of Indianapolis after responding to a domestic dispute call.
When Leath approached the apartment door, someone from inside fired a shot and hit her.
She was rushed to the hospital and later died from her injuries.
A suspect is in custody, but no details about the shooter have been released thus far.
Mayor Joe Hogsett asked flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Leath.
She served as an Indianapolis police officer for two-and-a-half years and was a member of the Army National Guard. She leaves behind a son.
