Anderson Mayor cancels 4th of July parade, fireworks amid pandemic

Many events planned for this summer in Anderson have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a released statement, Mayor Thomas Broderick says he is “disappointed” that the crisis “makes it necessary” to cancel activities like summer parks camps and concerts. Anderson will also not have a 4th of July parade or fireworks celebration. The city pool will also stay closed.
“While some portions of the country are beginning to see signs of a flattening of the curve, many areas are not, including the Anderson and Madison County area,” he said.
He noted that many of the events take a lot of preparation time, which is not able to happen right now.
