BSU to offer summer classes on coronavirus pandemic

Ball State University will be offering courses this summer on the coronavirus pandemic.
Susana Rivera-Mills, Ball State provost, says this will be a perfect opportunity to help students process the situation we are all in, from different perspectives.
“We realized that our students, as well as our faculty themselves, are asking questions,” Rivera-Mills said. “So the idea came about for these discussions, that we really needed an opportunity to create a space to process all of this information and experiences that we are all having.”
She says professors and students will look at a wide range of impacts the pandemic has had, including the media’s coverage and the government’s responses, to the economy. There will also a course that looks at the art perspective.
“Looking at how visual and performing artists, right now, are responding to this widespread illness, including perspectives of suffering, optimism and encouragement,” Rivera-Mills said.
The online course will begin on May 11, with another course available in June, and one more in July. Rivera-Mills says it’s not just for current Ball State students and incoming freshmen, but for any adult that is interested.
