Eaton man arrested for strangling teen

An Eaton man was arrested Thursday after he attacked a teenager who was visiting his home. Jeremy Lee Murphy, 43, was charged with battery and strangulation. Muncie police say the 17-year-old boy he attacked was his daughter’s boyfriend. The boy said Murphy charged at him, grabbed him by the throat and punched him in the face. Murphy then dragged him by his hair to a back porch, where he threw him down and choked him with his knee. The boy said the violence was “out of nowhere”, and it took three people to pull Murphy away from him. The attack happened Wednesday. An investigation revealed Murphy’s blood-alcohol content was at 0.279, more than three times the legal limit.
