Salvation Army’s “Coats for Kids” in Howard County

The Howard County Salvation Army's annual "Coats for Kids" collection drive continues now through October 16th.  The greatest need is for infant, toddler and youth size coats for both girls and boys.  Drop off locations include: First Farmers Bank and Trust locations in Howard County, Gorman and Bunch, and Jarrell Family Dentistry and Jarrell Orthodontics.  For information, call (765) 456-3846.

"Coats for Kids" distribution and applications for Christmas food for households with children will be taken at the Kokomo Salvation Army location, 1105 South Waugh Street. Marion Philharmonic Orchestra free concert

The Marion Philharmonic Orchestra will host the 2nd concert of its' 51st season with a marimba ensemble performance.  This free program will be held at Depot Park in Upland at 3pm and again at 6pm on Sunday, October 11th.  Patrons are asked to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, seating, etc.  Donations are welcome.  For information, check out the MPO on Facebook, Instagram  and Twitter or go to mpomarion.org.

Trunk or Treat-Northwood Plaza

Marion Lions Club fish and tenderloin fry

The Marion Lions Club will have a Dan's fish and tenderloin Saturday, October 24th from 4-7pm at First Friends Church, 2211 North Wabash road (state road 15 north).  This will be a drive through/pick up meal.  Tickets are 10 dollars per person, and they are available from Marion Lions Club members or you may buy them at the event.  Menu is fish, tenderloin, cole slaw, chips and cookie.  For information or advance tickets, please call Lion Dave Bates at (765)…

Grant County Rescue Mission events

The Grant County Rescue Mission will hold a "Thanks for Giving" food drive at the Marion Walmart on Saturday, November 14th.  Items they need include: turkey, mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing, green beans, corn, gravy, butter, salt, pepper, chicken broth, beef broth, applesauce, canned vegetables, dried beans and tomato juice.   Also, you can sign up for the mission's "Turkey Day 5K", which will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 26th.  Register at mygcrm.org/turkeyday5k.  For information, call (765) 662-0988.

AMVETS Riders Holiday Bazaar

The annual Amvets Riders' Holiday Bazaar is set for Saturday, November 14th from 9am until 4pm at 705 West 37th Street in Marion.   Shop, eat and bring your kids for a photo opportunity with Santa from noon until 2pm.  There will be a Chinese auction, a lot of handmade crafters and hourly door prizes.  Free admission.

Taylor Theater “The Little Prince”

Taylor University Drug Take Back Day

Taylor University students have partnered with Indiana Wesleyan University and local agencies to host a prescription drug "take back" day on Saturday, November 21st in Gas City at Neighborhood Fresh Market, 1025 East Main Street.  Those who drop off medications at the collection site must be 18 years of age or older.  Over the counter drugs will also be accepted.
