State lawmakers revisit bill to do away with gun permits

The Indiana House is moving on to other business this week after passing a bill that would do away with requirements for Hoosiers to purchase a permit in order to carry a handgun in Indiana. Still — Democratic lawmakers are getting their last licks in before it’s considered by the State Senate. Indianapolis Democrat Mitch Gore — who is also a Marion County sheriff’s deputy — says the bill will make it more difficult for police officers to do their jobs when it comes to finding people who aren’t legally allowed to have a gun. A similar bill died in the State Senate last session.
